Obituary for Nina Ann Nilsen

Nina Ann Nilsen 58, of Jefferson Avenue in Leroy, NY, passed from the loving arms of her family into the loving arms of her Savior on the morning of Sunday, June 19th at home.
Nina was born in September of 1952 on Long Island to Walter Albertina and Antonina (Tagliatore) Albertina. At an early age her family moved to Sherburne, NY. She grew up there and is a graduate of Sherburne High School.
In 1970 she met her future husband, Matthew Nilsen of Hamilton, NY and they married the following year. Moving first to Syracuse and eventually to LeRoy after their marriage, Nina is the mother of 4 children, Matthew Nilsen of Syracuse, Jennifer Nilsen of Syracuse, Laurie (David) Miller of Rochester and Joshua Nilsen of LeRoy. She is a grandmother of 4, Soma, Freya and Cosmo of Syracuse and Ella of Rochester. In addition to her loving husband of 40 years, she is survived by all of her children and grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Walter (Karen) Albertina of Oneida, NY, Linda (Daniel) Klein of Buffalo, Michael Albertina of Sherburne and James (Catherine) Albertina of Sherburne and many nieces and nephews.
Nina worked for Crane-Hogan Structural Systems of Spencerport, NY for many years before the onset of her illness. She was very active in her church, The Church of Living Waters of Leroy, NY, where she was a Sunday School teacher and Usher for many years. She was also active in a number of the woman’s prayer groups in the Leroy area and made many wonderful friends through those groups.
Nina’s family invite her many friends to join her family in a celebration of her life this coming week in Leroy. Calling hours will be Friday, June 24th from 4pm to 7pm at the Cameron, Brady and Steuber Funeral Home at 111 Wolcott Street, Leroy, NY. A Christian memorial service will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 10am at the Church of The Living Waters, 30 Main Street in Leroy, NY. There is on street parking for the Saturday morning service, but also a number of municipal parking areas within a short walking distance from the Church. Her physical remains will then be taken to Machpelah Cemetery on North Street in LeRoy, but her Spirit resides now in Heaven, where she awaits the rest of her beloved family.
