Rochester/Scottsville, NY : (July 3, 1928- November 14, 2015)
Stanley Rodwin, loving father, husband, and true friend to so many, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 14th, 2015 at the age of 87, after a brief illness. He was also a considerate businessman and mentor, a Cornell graduate of the class of 1950 and served his country in the US Army from 1951 to 1953, primarily in Germany.
He is predeceased by his wife Betty Mae and is survived by his four children Andrew Rodwin (Sedalia, CO), Katie Rodwin Sherman (Sharon, MA), Victoria Rodwin Ferentz (Cumberland, ME), and Brian Rodwin (New York, NY), their spouses, seven grandchildren, loving sister Carole and bother in law Richard Wagner, and his beloved Joyce Underberg of Rochester.
He and Betty Mae moved to Rochester in 1956 and then in 1961 bought “The Farm” in Caledonia, NY. He truly loved the farming community of Caledonia/Scottville and the farm is still owned by the family. In 1968, he founded Rodwin Packaging Corporation, which his son Andrew now heads. In 1970, he purchased an 1816 flour mill in Scottsville and developed it into the Rodwin Industrial Center, which he managed until his death.
He was a dedicated leader of the Cornell University Class of 1950, was elected a life member of the Cornell University Council, and was a recipient of numerous university and class awards in recognition of his vision and service. In addition, he was active in many civic and community organizations in Scottsville and Rochester and was a member of the Genesee Valley Club.
Celebrations of his life will be held at the Genesee Valley Club, 421 East Avenue, Rochester, on Friday, November 20 at 12:00 noon. and at the Scottsville Free Library, 28 Main Street Scottsville, NY on Saturday, November 21 from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm.
