Obituary for Judith Ann Brown (Warner)

Judith Ann Brown (Warner)
Judith Ann (Warner) Brown passed peacefully with family at her side at the age of 80 at The LeRoy Village Green on May 29, 2018. Judy was born on November 28, 1937 at her home on Custer Street in Buffalo to the late Harry C. and Helen S. Warner. She graduated with her Bachelor’s in Library Science from SUNY Geneseo and later earned her Master’s in Teaching from SUNY Brockport.

Judy met her husband William Morgan Brown while she was attending SUNY Geneseo shortly after he had returned home from Korea. They married in 1956, and after her graduation she helped support her husband while he earned his Master’s in Fine Arts & Teaching Degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology. Judy and Bill adopted their only daughter, Heather, in 1972 and settled in Le Roy in 1978 where Judy volunteered at the Woodward Memorial Library and became a substitute teacher for both Le Roy Central and Holy Family Schools. It was at Holy Family School where she discovered her true calling to become a teacher. Judy was incredibly dedicated to her students and the school, spending countless hours teaching, tutoring, mentoring and volunteering at fundraising events. She called it her vocation, not her job, and loved each and every single child that came up through the school at Holy Family, following them and their scholastic careers long after they graduated from HFS. Judy loved learning and took every opportunity she could in order to grow, and share that excitement with others. Judy was also very active in her community through the LeRoy Garden Club, Newcomer Club and Gourmet Club as well as leading Girl Scouts and participating in activities through her church, St. Peter’s Parish.

Judy is survived by her husband, William, her daughter Heather Brown Zerillo (E. Phillip, Le Roy, NY), and her six grandchildren: Heather N. Zerillo (New York, NY), Dylan R. Zerillo (Phoenix, AZ), Keara V. Zerillo (Le Roy, NY), Samuel M. Zerillo (Le Roy, NY), Maia R. Zerillo (Le Roy, NY) and William P. Zerillo (Le Roy, NY). She is also survived by her siblings Joan Ester (Canandaigua, NY), Ronald Warner (Tucson, AZ), and Nancy Williams (Al, Las Vegas, NV) as well as many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews whom she all loved as her own. Judy is pre-deceased by her sister, Catherine S. Gersey, her brother-in-laws Jack Brown and George Ester Sr., as well as her sister-in-law Ann Wilkie Brown.

Calling hours will be from 4-7 p.m. on June 7that Cameron, Brady & Steuber Funeral Home, 111 Wolcott Street, Le Roy. A Funeral Mass will be held for Judy at Our Lady of Mercy at 44 lake Street, Le Roy, at 10 a.m. on June 8th with a luncheon immediately following the mass in the Parish Center. In lieu of flowers, Judy would have preferred a donation be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research at Donation Processing, The Michael J. Fox Foundation, P.O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014.
