Obituary for Willard H. "Butch" Jones

Jones, Willard H. “Butch”
Scottsville: Jones, Willard H. “Butch” (1948-2009). April 6, 2009. Spirited to the end, moments before he died Butch rallied, bid a joyful greeting to each gathered at his bedside, said “Wow!” and took his leave. Predeceased by his beloved daughter, Phoebe Anne, Butch is survived by his loving daughter, Abby, sister Bobbie (Bob) Buchanan, nieces Cheri & Cristy, son-in-law Dave Foster, lifelong friend and mother of his daughters, Cathy Clancy, and a host of friends. Butch received both his BS & MS in Chemical Engineering from the U. of MD. He retired in 2002 as Director of the Bureau of Public Health Engineering, Monroe County Health Department, after 30 years of service. His lifelong passion for his profession was reflected in his continued participation in all aspects of public health service. Most recently, he looked forward to employment with FEMA as a HM Engineer with the Disaster Assistance Employee Program. A naturalist extraordinaire, he particularly loved his Scottsburg and Adirondack cabins, where he hunted, hiked, fished and celebrated all of nature’s bounty. Heartfelt thanks for the amazing compassion and care given by Dr. Thomas Watson, Dr. Patrick Wilmot, and Unit 7-1200 at Strong Hospital.
Friends are invited to a Memorial Service at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 99 Main St., Scottsville, on Friday at 11 AM followed immediately by a celebration for him at the Smith Warren American Legion, 61 Main St., Scottsville, New York. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to fund the church’s (St. Mary’s) planned hospice house (Patrick Place); to Smith Warren’s Memorial Garden; or to CaringBridge.org in Butch’s memory. Arrangements: J.H. Cameron Funeral Home, Scottsville.
