Obituary for Joan R. Ash (Ruppersberger)

Joan R. Ash (Ruppersberger)
Piffard: On May 20, 2015 unexpectedly at age 76. She is survived by her husband, Richard; children, Catherine (David) Strong, Jennifer (Brian) Geer: grandchildren, Peyten and Parker Geer; brother, John (Joan) Ruppersberger. Her parents, Franklin and Marion Ruppersberger predeceased her.
Joan was a world traveler. Spending a month roaming the globe. Such places included, France, D-Day and Australia among others in a private plane piloted by her husband of over 53 years, Dick Ash. She enjoyed time at their beach condo, Indian Rocks, FL with her best friends; Linda Mitchell, Nancy Viola, Cathy Adair and Patty Johnson. Joan’s favorite dinner of choice in Florida was Tuna with peppercorn sauce at Guppies and sometimes raw oysters on the half shell anywhere it was fresh. She was obsessed with a clean home, loved her muddled old fashioned. We always tried to get her to drink more than one. After 28 years of teaching and enhancing the lives of profound and severely handicapped children, Joan retired. She was an activist for Monroe County and loved her Jeep Grand Cherokee and her friends at the gym.

Joan loved picnicking on their properties down at the barn and at Conesus Lake. We will miss her crazy rimed hats which we didn't know if they were for fashion, sun protection, or to keep the bird droppings from staining her blouse! She was a avid book reader, a loving wife, and an incredible mother to
her two daughters, Jenn and Catherine, and grandmother to, Parker age 7 and Peytyn age 10 whom she admired and adored as they did her!

Joan supported her beloved husband Dick, backing him to become a great entrepreneur with CP Ward, a 102 year old company still going strong with his 4am to 9pm leadership. Most importantly Joan was the rock of a family, that will endure because of her guidance and undivided love and attention, which will prevail for years to come.
Friends may call Saturday, May 23, 2015 from 4-7 PM at the J.H. Cameron Funeral Home, 26 Rochester St., Scottsville. Her service and interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Genesee Country Village and Museum, 1410 Flint Hill Road, Mumford, NY 14511 or the Geneseo War Plane Museum, P.O. Box 185, Geneseo, NY 14454.
