Obituary for Vera M. Klemmer

SCOTTSVILLE-
Our beloved mother, Vera Klemmer, passed peacefully on April 25, 2020, at age 89 She is survived by her son, Paul Klemmer, of Caledonia, NY and her daughter, Peggy Klemmer, of Rush, NY. She will be greatly missed by grandchildren Jason Klemmer and Erika (Kyle) Edwards, and great-grandsons: Cole, Grayson, Liam, and Henry. She was predeceased by her husband, Allan, and daughter-in-law Patricia (Halpin) Klemmer.

Vera was born in Neustadt, Ontario, Canada, Voted for “Prettiest Little Town in Ontario,” as the youngest of 13 children. She was affectionately, and appropriately, nick-named “Dolly.” With her husband and young family, she later moved to Scottsville, NY and was a long-time resident. Vera attended the Harper School of Beauty and was proud to be a “Harperite” Beautician.

Leading up to retirement, she was employed at Coopervision Optics and became one of the original wet lens inspectors. As responsibilities increased, it became necessary for her to have a source of independent transportation. Vera, undaunted, signed up for lessons with the Morgan School of Driving and, at age 55, obtained her NY State Driver’s License.

Vera was a true friend to many. She shared her common-sense good advice with a dose of humor, love, and raw honesty. We were truly lucky to have her in our lives. We were also blessed to have, on her behalf, the compassionate helpers of Bridges of Mendon, and the support of Visiting Nurse Service Hospice Care. Our family sincerely thanks you. Her Service and Interment will be held privately.
