Mrs. SImonds was a family friend and a lunch lady at my elementary school! I earned the name Christina "trouble" Horr (maiden name) whenever she saw my Mom she would ask how her "trouble" was doing.......I had not recently saw her but she would always pop in my mind and when I drove past her home I would smile and tell my children about her....rest in peace!!

My family used to spend our one summer vacation every year up in Canada on Kashwakamak Lake. Sadly after spending 35 years going up there the cottages we rented were sold. Luckily Marie was able to find a nice spot for us to try on Keuka Lake and 17 years later we are still renting that same spot. Mom loved watching the sunrise come over the bluff on Keuka. She also loved watching for Loons on both lakes! She would wake up very early every day and have her tea ready to go and binoculars in her hand. Sitting, listening quietly and waiting for any Loon sounds or sightings. Her favorite part was when the Loons would dive under water. Mom would wait and watch for where they would pop back up to the surface. Mom enjoyed six weeks on Keuka Lake this past summer and most recently a couple trips I’m early October. She just loved her time on both lakes. Always with family and friends. We are finding comfort knowing what a great year mom had and she was able to enjoy life right up until when god said, it’s time. We have so many memories and good times to carry us girls through this totally unexpected loss. I am very thankful for that!
I Love you mom,

Deb Burkard

What a beautiful picture and obituary of your sweet mom. So glad she enjoyed Halloween with you...as she did many parties and gatherings with you...her family who she loved so much. I remember still too the surprise 13th birthday party she and you gave me, Marie. I can’t remember why but pretty sure that was the day she nicknamed me too. She will be missed, that beautiful lady. My sympathy to you and your sisters.
